According to its age, wines may show the marks of time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some label damage—common in bottles that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it also preserves the visual appearance that comes with age. We usually select brands and regions that perform well in old‑wine tastings. Wine is a living organism that, like others, ages and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. We recommend opening the bottle and letting it aerate first, which will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as this can be too aggressive for old wines.
