This Carillon d’Angélus, the younger sibling, seems to have boldly decided to take on the giant. The winemaking – with those inverted conical vats and cold soaks – speaks of a seriously meticulous approach, almost as if the wine was enrolled in an intensive viticulture course. Extended maceration and the use of new and second-fill barrels already deliver a noticeable complexity, a verdict echoed by critics like Wine Enthusiast (93 points) and James Suckling (91 points). It’s a wine that certainly deserves a prime cut of grilled beef or a good ribeye – a perfect pairing, really.
