This Baga from Luís Pato is a genuinely delightful surprise. Grown using the traditional “pé franco” method – a clear love for the Bairrada soil – it reveals a beautiful interplay of mineral notes alongside wild cherry and blueberry fruit, subtly enhanced by a touch of smoke and herbaceousness. The tannins are remarkably fine, practically begging to be enjoyed, and the acidity sings with a river-like freshness. A limited run of just 460 bottles, this wine would pair wonderfully with a hearty black pork roast.
