This magnum from Vallado Vinha da Coroa, lauded with 94 points by Robert Parker, is a wonderfully evocative experience – reminiscent of spent oak barrels, naturally. The initial burst of red and wild berry fruit is beautifully lifted by subtle spice notes. It finishes impressively long, with lingering berry echoes and a touch of herbaceousness, and would pair exquisitely with a perfectly grilled beef roast, or perhaps a hearty lamb dish.
