Quinta Nova Reference Parcela 28/Parcela 21 is planted with Tinta Roriz, comprising 2 650 vines and situated at an altitude between 205 and 210 metres. This grape variety exemplifies the viticultural challenge and human perseverance in preserving an ancient and authentic Douro. Imposing and equally seductive, it presents a contemporary character despite being linked to the century‑old Parcela 21 vineyard, producing a Reference lot from the Portuguese Douro with a mineral profile, notes of blue fruit, and rich, spiced aromas backed by a firm structure. The wine’s high concentration, density and depth well express its origin. Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is an extraordinarily beautiful place in the heart of the Douro, owned by the Amorim family since 1999. The family’s link to wine stems from long‑distance ties to export houses in Vila Nova de Gaia via the cork business, but at that time this connection became the fulfilment of a dream, and the project now rests in the hands of the fourth generation. With a history of over 250 years, the estate showcases a conserved track and the original 1764 wine cellar, following interventions by architect Arnaldo Barbosa. (illustrative image)
