This Mamoré de Borba Vinhas Sequeiro is a proper head-scratcher – a deep ruby colour hinting at the incredible age of the vines. The Alicante Bouschet really shines through with ripe red fruit flavours, but with a delightfully herbaceous, almost balsamic note that adds a layer of sophistication. The tannins are beautifully smooth, like polished mahogany, and linger impressively on the finish. Seriously, it’s begging for a good steak – particularly a ribeye – to cut through the intensity.
