Manoella Branco

Description

This wine comes from a 57‑year‑old vineyard situated on a north‑facing slope with granite soil, planted with Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho, at 600 metres above sea level. It displays an intense, bright colour with aromas of spring flowers and fresh lime. It is round, with a good body, fine freshness, pure flavours and excellent balance. Jorge is the fifth generation of a long line of wine producers and cellar owners. Accordingly, in 2009, Sandra and Jorge acquired Quinta da Manoella, a property whose history dates back to 1838. The vineyards of Quinta da Manoella are over a century old, flanked on both sides by younger vines, capable of producing wines with high freshness and delicacy, and with a concentration that quickly earns them recognition as some of the best wines of the Douro. Founded in 2001 by the oenologist couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, the company Wine & Soul has invested in and purchased old vines and properties in the Rio Pinhão valley. The couple’s goal is to create wines that express all the character of the old vines and indigenous varieties of the Douro, seeking balance between concentration, complexity and elegance.
