This wine, hailing from Amareleja, certainly seems to have been born from a fascinating experiment – perhaps even a particularly wise old cellar! The ruby-garnet colour with a hint of violet immediately hints at the complexity within. Flavours of ripe plum and cherry mingle with herbaceous notes, suggesting a vineyard with a truly discerning character. Smooth tannins, tempered by clay, contribute to a rich texture, beautifully balanced by a lively acidity that delivers a fantastic burst of flavour on the palate. Definitely a wine best enjoyed with a hearty black pork dish to match its intensity.
