Marquês de Borba Tradition and authenticity from the oldest vineyards in Alentejo. As the name suggests, Vinhas Velhas comes from the oldest vines in the João Portugal Ramos group. The red grapes are sourced from vines over 35 years old, while the vines that produce the white are more than 25 years old. One of João Portugal Ramos’s most emblematic labels, Marquês de Borba blends Alentejo tradition with exceptional quality, a standard that has been maintained since the brand’s first vintage in 1997. The name derives from the happy coincidence that both the vines and the winery of João Portugal Ramos are located in the Borba sub‑region, and from the fact that a relative of the winemaker once held the noble title Marquês de Borba, created in 1811. **Denomination of Origin:** DOC Alentejo. **Harvest:** 100 % hand‑picked, harvested in small 15 kg baskets to preserve the integrity and quality of the grapes. **Vinification:** The grapes are destemmed and carefully hand‑selected on the sorting table.
