This wine from Marques de Borba feels like it sprung from a particularly lovely daydream – or perhaps a very diligently tended vineyard. The hand-selection of the grapes, “na mesa de escolha,” speaks volumes about a dedication to quality, while the days spent with the “pisada em lagares de mármore” suggest a process almost imbued with ritual. The result is a wine brimming with body and fruit, but with an unexpectedly tactile texture and notes that subtly evoke the terroir of the Alentejo. Absolutely fantastic with a robust black country dish.
