Let’s just say this Cala wine from the Vale do Cachapoal is proving some people wrong about gold being rare – it’s certainly found in these bottles! With a grace that’d make the gods jealous, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah is remarkably complex, earning a stellar 96 points from James Suckling. The granite soil and coastal influence deliver a refreshing vibrancy, especially considering its 20 months maturing in the producer’s own “Barroir” barrels. Seriously, this would pair beautifully with some rich foie gras agnolotti, or perhaps a particularly well-aged cheese – a truly deserving wine.
