This Monte Velho from Esporão certainly shows the Alentejo still has a few delightful surprises in store. The Aragonez and Trincadeira provide a wonderfully robust framework, beautifully tempered by the Touriga Nacional, which is responsible for that signature touch of elegance we all adore. It’s a wine with serious concentration and ripe fruit, ideally matched with a hearty beef stew, or perhaps a classic feijoada. Notably, this award-winning wine – a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards – deserves to be savoured.
