The story of Montes seems like a dream, and it truly began that way, gradually becoming a reality. In 1987 our two original founders, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray, both highly experienced wine professionals, wanted to turn their dream of producing Chilean wines with quality far superior to the standards of the time into fact. In 1988 they were joined by the other two founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought their own complementary skills and experience to the venture. And thus Montes was born, initially called Discover Wine. It was a dream that became a reality for four great visionaries who managed to take Montes wines from a completely unknown place to more than 100 countries worldwide, making first‑flush vintages respected and admired by critics and the global market, and drawing attention to what Chile is capable of producing.
