Niepoort Menos é mais reflects the concept of this wine. Batuta is a wine of extremes – it offers everything yet behaves in a subtle way: the tannins are present but very fine, the aroma is intense but never overbearing, and it is full of concentration typical of old Douro vines, yet it remains fresh and elegant. The base of this wine comes from grapes grown in the Carril vineyard, over 70 years old, situated on a north‑facing slope that allows slow, balanced ripening. The grapes also come from other ancient vines (about 100 years old) near Quinta de Nápoles. The result is a delicately vinified wine, with long macerations but restrained extraction, where every detail is considered to produce a complex, fine, and elegant bottle. **Winemaking**: After a rigorous selection in both vineyard and cellar, fermentation took place in stainless‑steel tanks, with skin maceration for about 80 days. Following the long maceration, the wine aged for roughly 20 months in French oak barrels, 50 % of which were new oak. **Food Pairing**: Batuta is very versatile with meats and fish such as tamboril, squid, or grilled octopus.
