The Conciso is Niepoort’s interpretation of a refined and elegant Dão, a wine that showcases all the potential and character of a very old, centennial vineyard planted on granite soils on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, where Baga and Jaen grapes predominate. Its aroma offers notes of cherry, violet and mint. On the palate it reveals depth with dried fruit and a salty undertone, paired with fruitiness, while a lively acidity keeps the wine fresh, leading to a long but smooth and elegant finish. In the national wine landscape, there is no more consensual producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting out as a Port wine trader, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an indomitable winemaker recognized as one of the most important figures who has worked for and continues to work for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy with those who are always creating bold wines.
