Starting in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established his business, which would prove to be prosperous and future‑proof. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, a formidable producer in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important figures who has worked—and continues to work—for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helped them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, and has also built his own legacy alongside those who constantly create daring wines.
