Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, stands out for being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of this estate dates back to April 17, 1738, when a dated document first references “Quinta da Pacheca” because its owner was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing passion for enology, purchasing the property with the goal of dedicating himself to vitiviniculture. A century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family now runs the estate: Maria, Catarina and José are the youthful faces of this distinctly family‑run venture. The bottling year may not match the image presented. (illustrative photo only)
