This Pacheca Superior is a delightfully perplexing confection, clearly the product of a family who’s clearly dabbled in a bit of everything in the Douro. The grapes, delicately handled with pneumatic pressing – a touch of tech, wouldn’t you say? – unveil a wonderfully complex profile. Hints of pineapple and tropical maracuja, very much in keeping with the region’s character, intertwine with the influence of French oak, delivering a rich body and a stubbornly persistent finish. It’s a wine that seems to recall D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira, and seemingly knows how to blend tradition with a contemporary twist. Perfect with grilled fish spiced with a generous hand, or for anyone who enjoys a wine that whispers stories.
