According to its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust traces on the bottles and/or damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity but always maintains the visual appearance associated with their age. We generally select the marques/regions that normally perform well in old wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle, aromas are subject to different evolutions. Thus the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines. (Image for illustration only)
