This Paço dos Infantes Touriga Nacional is a seriously impressive wine – it looks like it’s been deliberately designed to wow. Hand-harvested with 12kg boxes, it clearly demonstrates a meticulous approach to selecting the finest grapes. The fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks is balanced beautifully, but the real star is the 10 months spent ageing in French oak barrels, imparting a silky texture and complexity. Expect ripe cherry and plum flavours, interwoven with toasted notes, culminating in an incredibly lingering finish. Perfect with roasted red meats or a grilled fish, to be sure.
