Description

The Pegos Claros Castelão Vinhas Velhas Grande Escolha red wine springs from the oldest and most emblematic vines on the estate, some boasting more than a century of age. The grapes, carefully hand‑picked, were crushed on foot and partially fermented with a splash of “engaço” in the press, before aging in French oak barrels of 500 and 225 litres. On the nose it offers a remarkable balance between red fruit and ripe plum, complemented by subtle toasty, spice notes and a hint of greenery. In the mouth it is elegant and deep, with a striking freshness, silky tannins and a long, persistent finish. A wine with a gastronomic profile and exceptional ageing potential.
