Everything began in 1918 when Manoel Domingues Poças Júnior—born amid the bustle of the Port wine scene—decided to launch his own venture. At about 30 years old, Manoel had some industry experience and, together with his uncle, established a company supplying brandies to major Port wine producers. Years later, he moved the company’s headquarters to Vila Nova de Gaia, where it has remained ever since. The entire Poças family has shared a passion for wine, blending reverence for tradition with an openness to the innovations of newer generations. Today, with three estates in the finest locations of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças maintains full control over the quality of its wines. (Illustrative image)
