The Alandroal Wine Company was founded in 2000 by Paolo Fiuza Nigra, Luís Bulhão Martins, and Carlos Portas. The initials of each of them gave the project its name, PLC. In the undulating plain of Alentejo, between Alandroal and Portalegre, the team manages 100 hectares of vines planted on calcareous soils, where indigenous and other local varieties boost the production of high‑quality wines. PLC bottled its first wine in 2001, taking its first steps in the national market under the brand Pontual. (illustrative image)
