The Quinta do Côa is one of the Roboredo Madeira family estates, located in the Upper Douro between the village of Almendra and the right bank of the Côa River. Its roughly 80 hectares are of slate origin, exposed to the east and south, at altitudes between 130 and 300 metres, and are cultivated organically from strictly native regional varieties, including vines, olives and almonds. Nestled in a microclimate of high temperatures and low rainfall, the estate’s wines are distinguished by their aromatic purity. In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, the Raian zone between the Upper Douro and the Beira Alta, Rui Roboredo Madeira’s passion for the aromas and scents of the land that shape his character was born within the family. After years of experience and life in other parts of the world, Rui brings back to his roots what he has learned, launching a personal wine‑making project with utmost respect for nature.
