This Monte Bravo is a rather bold statement from the Douro, thanks to the Alicante Bouschet’s distinctive touch. You can really taste the warmth of the schistous soils – a hallmark of the region – alongside the ripe black fruit and a lively acidity. It’s a wine that recalls its previous accolades – notably the Golden Award from Wines of Portugal in 2018 – and would pair beautifully with roasted meats or dishes featuring a good kick of spice.
