Quinta das Bágeiras Garrafeira is made from the Baga grape, with fruit harvested from vines that are more than 90 years old. It is produced only in exceptional vintages, revealing the authentic character of the Bairrada region. This red wine offers a solid structure, powerful tannins, great freshness and complexity, making it ideal for bottle ageing. The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not ring a bell for the most distracted, but he is the great mentor behind Quinta das Bágeiras' celebrated wines. The estate’s history spans three generations, but it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s direction, that the wines began to be bottled and sold, quickly becoming a benchmark for Bairrada and Portuguese wines. Though crafted with traditional methods, Quinta das Bágeiras’ wines never follow fads—they remain in vogue, reflecting each harvest’s regional character and the people who produce them.
