O Pai Abel rosé is produced exclusively from the Baga grape and presents a brick-red colour. Its aroma is austere and closed, with notes of macerated wild fruits, humus and damp earth. It is a creamy and crisp wine, with a good body balanced by lively acidity. The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not say much to the distracted, but he is no less than the great mentor behind the great wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The history of Quinta das Bágeiras already dates back to the work of three generations, yet it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s direction, that the wines of Quinta das Bágeiras began to be bottled and sold, quickly becoming a benchmark for Bairrada wines and for Portugal. Although crafted following the procedures of previous generations, the wines of Quinta das Bágeiras are not fleeting trends; they are always in vogue, revealing the character of the region and its people with each harvest.
