Quinta D’Azinheira Region: Douro – Baixo Corgo Sub‑region Origin: The Quinta D’Azinheira is situated in the authentic village of Azinheira, in Santa Marta de Penaguião, in an area of rare natural beauty overlooking the left bank of the Corgo River. All grapes used are sourced exclusively from the estate, located between 300 and 400 metres above sea level. Vineyards, aged between 5 and 25 years, are planted on very stony, sandy soils, ensuring a natural balance between vigor and concentration. Vinification and ageing: Grapes are hand‑picked at the ideal point of ripeness and transported in 20‑kg crates. They are carefully selected, destemmed, and gently crushed. Fermentation occurs in stone vats, with mechanical crushing and remontage and temperature control. The wine then ages for 18 months in second‑year French oak barrels. Bottled in November 2024. Physicochemical profile: Total acidity: 5.6 g l⁻¹ | Volatile acidity: 0.80 g l⁻¹ | pH: 3.58 | Residual sugars: 1.86 g l⁻¹ | Dry extract: 38 g l⁻¹ Pairing: Ideal for accompanying dishes of intense flavour from Portuguese regional cuisine, such as red meats, game, or oven roasts.
