Quinta de Chocapalha is located in Aldeia Galega, in Alenquer, within the Lisbon region. Although it is known today as a relatively young producer in terms of bottled wines, the estate’s records date back to the 16th century, during the reign of King João VI. The fate of this centuries‑old house changed dramatically when it was acquired by the Tavares da Silva family in the 1980s. Soon thereafter the family invested heavily in the vineyards and winemaking facilities, with the sole goal of achieving maximum quality and preserving the reputation that the estate had always enjoyed. Everything was set for Sandra Tavares da Silva – a renowned producer in the Douro and daughter of the Tavares da Silva estate – to take the helm of the house’s enology. It quickly became clear that this estate would produce beautiful wines and would become one of the most important and best producers in the Lisbon region. On its 45 hectares of vines, the estate produces both white and red wines, using national varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Arinto, as well as international ones like Cabernet Sauvignon. Its wines are truly among the best in the region and are a delight on the table. (Illustrative image only)
