The Quinta de Foz de Arouce is located in the Conselho da Lousã, in the Beiras region. It is surrounded by the fortified Serras da Lousã and Penela and is watered by the Arouce and Ceira rivers, where the former empties. Historical documents in the house record the property as belonging to the family since the 18th century, and some parts are even older, as the original house burned down twice. A chapel adjacent to the house was founded by a brief papal decree from Pope Benedict XIII on 24‑08‑1724. Viticulture in this area dates back to the Visigothic occupation of the Peninsula, as various legends attest that King Arunce stored wine, among other precious goods, in his Lousã castle. The vineyard’s wine production intertwines with the property’s own history and demarcation, making it today, along with the cellar, the only one known in the region. (Image purely illustrative)
