**Quinta do Carmo Profile** From the terroir of Quinta do Carmo, grapes of the Alicante Bouschet, Aragonês and Trincadeira varieties were selected, harvested in the second half of September at their optimal ripeness. The grapes are fully destemmed and vinified with varietal separation in clay vats or small stainless‑steel tanks, with temperature control. After alcoholic fermentation they benefit from an extended post‑fermentation maceration. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels where they refine for a year. Following this stage they undergo meticulous sorting in accordance with the traditional Carmo profile. After roughly a year of bottle ageing they are released to market and can be enjoyed immediately. With proper storage, this vintage is expected to evolve positively over the next 20 years. **Winemaker** Rui Vieira **History** Located in the Alentejo region, a few kilometres from the town of Estremoz, Quinta do Carmo is a property covering a total area of 1,000 ha. The vineyard area extends over 150 ha, with the remaining land divided among olive groves, oak forest and arable land. This vineyard already produced wines labelled in the 19th century, and it was here that the Alicante Bouschet variety was first planted in Portugal, the cornerstone of Carmo's red wines and now widely represented throughout the Alentejo.
