This Cerro da Nora Grande Reserva 2011 is a delightful reminder that age isn’t just a number – these vines, over 70 years old from Vinhas Velhas, are a genuine flavour secret. Primarily Touriga Nacional from the estate’s prime vineyards, it’s still drinking beautifully, particularly now that it’s approaching its prime. Remarkably, it’s showing signs of wanting to keep going, with scores of 18/20 from the Clube de Vinhos Portugueses and 91/100 from Revista de Vinhos do Público. And, judging by its win awards – Gold at the Asia Wine Trophy and Portugal Wine Trophy 2015 – it’s a wine that’s bound to impress with its complexity. Ideal with game or a hearty roast.
