In the oldest production sector of Douro wine, Montez Champalimaud, blending a secular heritage with a constant drive for innovation, takes pride in producing wines of great quality. Breaking with old paradigms, Quinta do Côtto was the spark of a revolution that led the most enlightened viticulturists to bottle and sell their estate wines directly to the market. In the 1960s the first estate wine of the Douro region, Quinta do Côtto, was born, and its success prompted Montez Champalimaud to expand its portfolio first with Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha, and later by creating a new brand, Paço de Teixeiró, in the Verde Wines region. Today, an estate wine guarantees that the wine has been carefully produced and selected by the estate owner, ensuring its quality, personality, and authenticity – without which no good wine is a great wine.
