Hand-picked at the perfect ripeness, the grapes release complex aromas, beautifully enhanced by a 12-month aging in French oak barrels, adding an undeniable elegance without sacrificing the robust character of the Douro terroir. The traditional foot-pumping winemaking technique extracts the maximum from the skins, resulting in a concentrated wine with a refreshing 6.0g/l of tartaric acid. Don’t expect delicate oak notes; instead, prepare for a noticeable oak influence, complementing the Sousão, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Francesa grapes. Having earned a 17/20 at Grandes Escolhas and a Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, this is a safe bet alongside richer, spiced beef dishes.
