After 18 months of aging in French oak barrels, this wine displays intense aromas typical of the region. It is very elegant on the palate, with an excellent integration with the wood, backed by good acidity and firm tannins. Situated on the right bank of the Douro River between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta do Crasto is a property covering about 130 hectares, of which 70 are planted with vineyards. The estate’s portfolio also includes Quinta do Querindelo, with 10 hectares of Vinha Velha, and Quinta da Cabreira in the Upper Douro, with 114 hectares of vines. With a privileged location in the Demarcated Region of the Douro, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for more than a century. As is common with the great quintas of the Douro, the origins of Quinta do Crasto go back to ancient times – the name “Crasto” derives from the Latin “castrum,” meaning Roman fort.
