This Touriga Nacional from Quinta do Crasto clearly benefited from a rather intense level of attention. The grapes, meticulously sorted at the picking table, were then gently, yet firmly, pressed in a traditional granite lagar – a touch that undoubtedly boosted the intensity. Robotic pressure and precisely controlled fermentation hint at a pursuit of absolute perfection. Twelve months in French oak have layered in lovely complexity, and it’s a wine that would pair beautifully with a good, grilled beef.
