The wines of Quinta do Infantado are produced, aged and bottled on the estate itself, which is situated on the north bank of the Douro, near Pinhão, in the Gontelho sub‑region – an area long celebrated for the excellence of its vineyards. In the late 19th century the property was acquired by João Lopes Roseira, an ancestor of the present managers. Since taking over, the Roseira family has steadily expanded the vineyard area and has focused on producing and aging Fine Wines. In 1979 the estate began selling its first Quinta Port wines, reviving a very old tradition that had been lost for more than five decades. The property covers roughly 23 hectares of vineyards, all classified with the highest rating available in the Demarcated Region of the Douro (Class A). This distinction inspires the refinement of traditional winemaking techniques in the press, and by capitalising on the exceptional grapes grown there, the estate creates natural Port wines of the highest quality.
