“Quinta do Ortigão Reserva 2x” – a name certainly designed to pique your interest! This Bairrada red, built around Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet, has clearly benefited from a generous maceration. The Alicante Bouschet, in particular, contributes a vibrant acidity that amplifies the red fruit notes – think intensely ripe raspberries and blackberries with a delightful, almost candied character. This careful drying process further enhances its complexity, and with its impressive aging potential, I predict we’ll be revisiting this wine with pleasure in years to come. It would pair exquisitely with a classic grilled beef dish from the region, or perhaps a succulent lamb roast.
