This Sousão from Quinta do Vallado clearly benefited from a seriously immersive five-day foot-treading process – it’s brimming with dark fruit and tobacco notes that demand a certain reverence. The wine is quite full-bodied, with a surprisingly elegant acidity, and finishes with a lovely mineral complexity, reminiscent of a fantastic jazz solo. Seriously, it’s fantastic paired with a well-seasoned roast, or simply enjoyed while contemplating the soul of the Douro Valley.
