Quinta dos Castelares The grapes that produced this Quinta dos Castelares Red Harvest come from a combination of vineyards on river terraces and the higher vineyards of Quinta dos Castelares, located in Freixo de Espada à Cinta in the Upper Douro, at an altitude between 500 and 600 meters. The soils are slate with high stoniness. The vines are planted on double‑bard terraces and high vineyards. Dominant orientation: North‑Northeast. The harvest is manual. Grapes are destemmed entirely and crushed immediately. They are fermented by variety to allow a rigorous selection that ultimately creates the blend. Fermentation occurs in small stainless‑steel tanks at about 24 °C. Gentle, controlled macerations are employed to produce elegant, aromatic wines. The wine remains in stainless steel until bottling.
