Description

The Quinta de Lagares red wine is made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and a small blend sourced from the Vinhas Velhas. It presents a ruby colour with dominant red fruit aromas, wrapped in the characteristic floral touch of Touriga Nacional, with subtle spice notes and a delicate toasting. Balanced acidity and velvety tannins enhance the red fruit flavours, giving a medium‑length, light finish. Since 1920 the Lencart family has owned the estate, situated in Vale de Mendiz on the left bank of the Pinhão River in the Douro Demarcated Region. Spanning 70 ha, the property produces wine and olive oil, cultivating about 27 ha of traditional Douro grape varieties. Since 2007, Pedro Lencart and Isabel Sarmento have steered this beautiful quinta, which still houses granite wine presses on the ground floor of the house that dates back to the late 18th century. The wines produced here mirror the family’s dedication, respecting ancestral winemaking methods and relying on the region’s classic grapes.
