Quinta dos Murças, located in the heart of the Douro Controlled Designation of Origin (DOC), is characterised by eight terroirs shaped by the mountains, varying altitudes and sun exposures, schist soils, and the climate typical of the Douro River valley. Dozens of indigenous grape varieties are planted in the vineyards, which are managed under organic and integrated production methods. Olive trees, orange trees, almond trees and Mediterranean scrubland help maintain the balance of the ecosystem. Esporão was born in Alentejo from an unconditional desire to make the finest wines.
