This Quinta dos Quatro Ventos Reserva, built around Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, and of course Touriga Franca, clearly aimed for a statement. Spending 14 months in both French and Russian oak barrels – a bold pairing – has produced a deeply ruby-coloured wine with serious potential. Expect concentrated red fruit notes alongside hints of tobacco and dark chocolate, all supported by a surprisingly structured attack and impressive length. One wonders if it’s perhaps over-eager to impress; a rich steak would certainly be a fitting companion.
