Quinta Nova It was at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo that the first monovarietal planting study in the Douro region was carried out. Between 1979 and 1981, in partnership with the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, through the Viticultural Studies Center of the Douro, the best solar exposures were selected at Quinta Nova for a planting study of three grape varieties: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca. Parcel 29, planted with Touriga Nacional, sits at an altitude between 170 and 205 metres. It represents a unique specimen and is a key part of the history of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in its fullest expression of terroir. A true reference in the Douro, coupled with the century‑old vine (Parcel 21), yields a wine with a very elegant, almost feminine profile, contrasted by an intense structure of succulent tannins with great precision. The stringy texture, high gravity, sapid profile, and purple hue reflect the nature of the Touriga Nacional grape. This is a red wine crafted by oenologist Jorge Alves, aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Awards 97/100 – Robert Parker Allergen information Contains sulfites. SKU: 106300-1
