Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is an extraordinarily beautiful estate in the heart of the Douro, owned by the Amorim family since 1999. The family’s link to wine goes back far, through their connections to export houses in Vila Nova de Gaia via the cork trade; in that era this link became a realised dream, and the project is now in the hands of the fourth generation. With a history of over 250 years, the estate showcases a preserved winery and the original 1764 cellar building, restored under the direction of architect Arnaldo Barbosa. (illustrative image only)
