Since 1937, the company Caves do Solar de São Domingos has been producing sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagasse brandy, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Its cellars hold more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, tens of thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of oak French barrels for its famed vinic brandies. The “São Domingos” Bagasse Brandy, produced in proprietary stills, continues to lead the market with the same quality as always. In 2006, a modern vinification center was opened, enabling the reception of a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own estates and from growers working in partnership with the business. The constant innovation in production and vinification techniques has raised the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, strengthening the competitive edge of the São Domingos brand. Wine tourism is also a winning investment, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of the caves carved into rock, the millions of bottles, and the show‑room, hall and museum with tasting room—all integral parts of the Bairrada Route.
