Since 1937, the company Caves do Solar de São Domingos has been producing sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagasse brandy, as well as Bairrada and Dão wines. Its cellars hold more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of oak barrels—using French oak—for its renowned wine brandies. The “São Domingos” Bagasse Brandy, made in its own stills, continues to lead the market with the same quality as always. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was inaugurated, capable of receiving a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own vineyards and from growers who work in partnership with it. Continuous innovation in production and winemaking techniques has raised the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, strengthening the competitiveness of the São Domingos brand. Enotourism is also a winning investment, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of the rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, and the showroom, hall, and museum with a tasting room—an integral part of the Bairrada Route.
