Síria Branco

Description

Vinha do Lomedo Winemaking: This wine comes from the oldest plot of the Vinha do Lomedo (over 50 years old), where 90% of the vines are the indigenous Síria grape variety. It was fermented and aged in an old 3,000-litre cask. The organic farming practised at Quinta do Cardo, a pioneer in Portugal, preserves the native fauna and flora and promotes biodiversity within our agricultural ecosystem, with a strong positive impact on the final quality of the wines produced here. Grown in granite terroir and crafted with nearly 100 years of winemaking wisdom, our wines stand out for the sensory and cultural experience they offer and for their unique identity. The first wine produced at Quinta do Cardo dates from the 1930s and was named Branco Maia. In 1986, the first white wine under the Quinta do Cardo label was bottled. The brand's reputation rose meteorically, and it quickly established itself among Portugal's great wines, bringing considerable prestige and strength to the then-little-known Beira Interior region. The white wines of Beira Interior display a colour ranging from citrine yellow to straw yellow, with rich and varied fruity aromas. On the palate they are medium-bodied and not very alcoholic, with a notable freshness of acidity that characterises them. They have good persistence on the palate and excellent ageing potential.
