Tapada do Chaves Reserva is the result of combining Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet from the Moutas vineyard and an old vine planted in 1901, situated at an altitude between 350 and 400 metres. It is a garnet‑coloured wine with great concentration, revealing an enormous aromatic complexity, with notes of wild fruit, oak, resin, earth and nuances of leather with balsamic touches. On the palate it is very elegant, with good volume and a very present mature fruit, expressing the classic Alentejo profile. The tannins are firm, it has good acidity, balance and excellent roundness. It is in the surroundings of Portalegre, in the lands of Alto Alentejo, that Tapada do Chaves wines are produced. For almost a century this estate has been producing wines of recognised quality that rank among Portugal’s best. Tapada do Chaves wines preserve the warmth and softness of the Alentejo region and are associated with a strong family tradition, a history of passion and dedication to the land. With origins in the estate’s own vineyards, aged between 15 and 85 years, these are wines to cellar and later savour in full. (illustrative image only)
