Tapada do Chaves Vinhas Velhas red is made from Trincadeira and Grand Noir grapes, sourced from an ancient vine planted on the Tapada estate in 1901 and hand‑harvested. It displays a concentrated ruby hue and a complex aroma featuring balsamic, cedar, earthy and tobacco notes, intertwined with black fruit, plum, and surprising vegetal nuances. The acidity is firm yet balanced, delivering a robust structure and strong tannins. The finish is long and persistent, marked by a high level of expression and character. The Tapada do Chaves wines are produced around Portalegre, in the high Alentejo. For nearly a century this estate has produced wines of recognized quality, among the best in Portugal. Tapada do Chaves preserves the warmth and softness of the Alentejo region and is tied to a strong family tradition, a story of passion and dedication to the land. Originating from the estate’s own vineyards, aged between 15 and 85 years, these wines are meant to be cellared and savoured later in life.
